The Rolling Stone was founded in 1967 by Jann Wenner, a former student at University of California at Berkeley & Ralph Gleason, a jazz critic for the local San Fran newspaper. They worked on publishing their first issue of The Rolling Stone 49 years ago on November 9, 1967 (see image to the left).
Wenner and Gleason intended for The Rolling Stone to be a mashup of art, politics and the current generation, The two accomplished that and more. During the 1970's, the magazine expanded more on the political aspect with the help of Hunter S Thompson. In the 1980's they then expanded more on the entertainment side.
The old newspaper covers featured upcoming and successful people such as The Beatles and Madonna, to this day they still do. Now The Rolling stone offers a variety of topics to read and close from, and is not only exclusive to a paper print, but now a website.
